Kharyce Moonie presently attends the St. Joseph’s convent and is in Form 2 as of September, 2015. She is the daughter of Wendy and Ronald Moonie of Hewanora Orchard, Vieux Fort.
Kharyce is a very quiet, pleasant and disciplined child who takes a great interest in her studies. Her favourite hobbie is reading. Kharyce was a nine-year-old student of the Plain View Combined School when she won the 4th Courts OECS Reading competition.
“I was speechless”, were the words spoken by Kharyce when she heard the news that she was the winner of the competition. She went on to say that it was a challenging experience for her, but states “when I set my mind to do something I do it.”
Kharyce says, “Reading is the key to success.” She explains, “It is an amazing activity for it opens many avenues and takes you to faraway places.”
Kharyce attributed her success to God, her family, the principal, teachers, coaches and her many friends who motivated and inspired her through the experience. Her advice to the students of the Plain View Combined School is to learn to read well.
